U.S. Visa Delays Threaten Fall 2025 Intake for Indian Students

Thousands of Indian students admitted to top U.S. universities are stuck in limbo due to prolonged visa delays, sparking diplomatic concern and widespread anxiety.
Thousands of Indian students planning to begin their studies in the U.S. this Fall 2025 semester face serious uncertainty as visa appointments remain severely delayed across consulates. Reports suggest students with offers from Ivy League and other top-ranked institutions are unable to secure timely visa slots—risking their housing, scholarships, and travel plans.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio has raised the issue, urging the Biden administration to expedite the visa process for genuine international students, especially from high-volume countries like India.

Indian students have voiced their frustration across social media, tagging U.S. embassies and education officials, while many families scramble for alternate arrangements or defer admissions.

“It’s a nightmare. Our tuition deadlines are here, but no visa in sight,” shared one IIT graduate headed to NYU.

If unaddressed, the delay could impact U.S. university intakes and reinforce emerging shifts toward destinations like Germany, France, and Singapore.
